As we move into 2026, I continue to be amazed at the energy, growth, and sense of community within the Kawartha Durham Chapter of the OIAA. Time truly does fly when you’re surrounded by such engaged and passionate industry professionals.
Over the past year, our chapter has welcomed some fantastic new members from across the insurance industry, bringing with them diverse perspectives and fresh ideas. We are proud to see representation from brokers, insurers, independent adjusters, and professionals from industry-supporting vendors, all contributing to a richer, more collaborative chapter. This diversity strengthens our discussions, broadens our learning, and reinforces the value of coming together as one industry.
Our recent events have been a testament to that spirit. Both our Bowling Night and Hockey Night were completely SOLD OUT, filled with great conversations, plenty of laughs, and outstanding networking opportunities. Seeing members connect in such a relaxed and fun environment is exactly what our chapter strives to create, and the enthusiasm around these events has been incredibly rewarding.
We are also excited to introduce our new chapter charity for this year: Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Durham and Northumberland. Already, our chapter has had the opportunity to provide meaningful financial support to this incredible organization, and we look forward to continuing to give back and make a positive impact in our local communities.
Looking ahead, we are setting our sights high for our Education Day this year, May 7th, 2026 . We are aiming to elevate this flagship event by expanding the audience to includebrokers, independent adjusters, underwriters, and other claims professionals, creating an even more inclusive and valuable learning experience. We are pleased to share that CE credits and RIBO credits will be offered, making this an event you won’t want to miss.
June brings on much needed spring warmth with our annual Golf Tournament at Winchester Golf Club in Brooklin on June 18th, 2026 . Watch for upcoming information, this event is also very popular and sells out fast.
None of this would be possible without the dedication of our executive team, social directors, volunteers, and sponsors who generously give their time and support. Your commitment is what allows our chapter to continue growing and thriving.
Thank you to all our members for your continued engagement, enthusiasm, and support. I look forward to another exciting year of learning, connection, and community with the OIAA Kawartha Durham Chapter.
Cheers to what’s ahead!
