Each year, the OIAA Kawartha Durham Chapter proudly partners with a local charitable organization to support the important work they do in our community. Through our fundraising events and the generosity of our members and sponsors, we are honoured to give back while making a meaningful difference close to home.
This Year’s Charity:
THE ANIMAL GUARDIAN SOCIETY (TAGS)
- Founded in 1987, The Animal Guardian Society (TAGS) is Durham Region’s first no-kill animal rescue organization. Through a network of dedicated volunteers and foster homes, TAGS rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes dogs and cats in need while promoting animal welfare, responsible pet ownership, and humane education throughout the community. Over the years it has rescued, fostered and found permanent homes for hundreds of animals, helping many avoid euthanasia.
- Why they need our help? TAGS is currently working toward establishing an Animal Wellness Centre to expand its ability to rescue, treat, and rehome animals in need.
- TAGS is local to Durham Region, located in Blackstock, ON and is 100% volunteer run with no paid staff. TAGS is a Registered Canadian Charity.
